The glory of presence.

Everything is special. There is nothing ordinary or routine or wasted. Everything is miraculous. We forget these truths until things are no longer, especially the touch of a human hand. To take for granted means to assume something is true without questioning it or not to be grateful for something or someone. Why must death be the sternest teacher? Why must loss be the ultimate admonishment?

How else could you learn that being here to experience this life is the most glorious privilege ever granted if you couldn’t experience loss? The presence of another human being, particularly one who loves you is the pinnacle of creation. Human contact – what a gift! Presence – what an even greater gift!

To be here and accounted for is all there is to this life. To get goodies like we have on earth is like icing on the cake. Everything is amazing, even a simple cup of tea. Do you not see how profound it is to be alive? I don’t think we’re fully aware. We take everything for granted, but we never realize the privilege granted to us.

It’s all a gift. It’s gifts upon gifts. Be grateful. How could you want more? You can want more, that’s what’s so amazing. You can desire to your heart’s content. The supply never runs dry and no-one loses. The Source is infinite. But even so, how could you think it’s ordinary? Nothing is ordinary, nothing at all. It’s all a miracle, every last stitch of it. Do me a favor. If you’re lucky enough to have another human in your life that you can touch, bask in that glory. Bathe in the soothing touch of another. There is nothing greater than human presence. Physical contact heightens that to a new kind of glory.
