Creative power cannot be overlooked, but excuses can be.

Creative people are intentional about what’s in their imagination, they are willing to work for what they can “see” in their minds, and they are passionate about what their dreams mean for themselves and the betterment of the world. We all have creative potential, but excuses tend to get in the way. An excuse is like an old shoe – it’s comfortable, it’s familiar, and it’s soothing. Too often we say that we don’t “know” enough to be creative.

We are living in an age where there is so much free, and totally accessible knowledge about anything and everything you would like to create in your life. The amount of knowledge about creating a healthy lifestyle, for example, is amazingly abundant and scientifically proven. You CAN create a healthy lifestyle – we all can, but so many of us choose not to because we prefer to believe in the excuses rather than to believe in the possibilities. It can’t be lack of motivation or the “how to’s,” either. There are instructions and advice all over the internet. You can read about those who tossed aside excuses and who overcame all sorts of roadblocks and setbacks, and achieved so much good for themselves and others. The abundance of information on the internet makes today’s excuses flimsy!

Rather than making excuses your go-to companion, make the creative process your best and closest friend! It’s a tool that bring newness into your life, that brings excitement into your daily living, and that fosters an open-ended, lifelong pursuit of joy. It’s exhilarating, fun and exciting to create even the smallest things – an Instagram post, new landscaping, a dinner party, a note of thanks to a friend. Start off small and let your creative power grow and develop. Are you going to continue to create misery with excuses and complaining, or would you like to create something better and more rewarding for yourself? The answer is up to you. You can either toss aside creativity or toss aside excuses – the universe lets us choose if we want to create nightmares or if we want to build dreams. Which one do you want to be a part of?
