Children have vivid imaginations – I know I did when I was a child. Children love to play “make believe.” In other words, they are making a fun belief about a desired situation that they want to be in. They buy into what their imaginations conjure up, as if it’s real – and they laugh and have a good time. Even though they don’t actually see it, the feelings about what they imagine seem to be more than good enough! Somehow as adults, we learn to make doubt, instead of making useful beliefs about ourselves. Our imaginations conjure up negative scenarios, and the feelings that accompany them cause us to feel rotten. Usually our narrative of events has more to do about the past than it does about carving out a better future. Rethinking the purpose of keeping a calendar, might help.
When you take a moment to write down your future storyline, one that you have really taken time to discern, it always makes the present moment feel inspired. Positive planning will boost your mood. You can use your calendar, not just as a tool for keeping appointments, but as a way of shaping your future – one you’ve hoped for, one you desire to see, and one that makes you pleased with yourself! Once it’s on the calendar, and it comes to pass – it feels amazing! From desire to thought, to clearly stated words – presto, the future is born. Even if your blueprint never comes to pass, you have at least unleashed your childlike enthusiasm, your inner encouragement, and your excitement for a brighter day. You have inspired the present moment by using your creative imagination, and you will inspire others around you.
The world needs more optimism. You can add to the optimism by creating a dream calendar. Don’t just use your calendar for future appointments, use it for crafting your future ideas, your hopeful aspirations, and your burning desires. Then, get excited about releasing those ideas and desires from your imagination. When you put it on your agenda, you’ll bring hope and inspiration to your day today – and that’s always great place to start! The likelihood of reality “catching up” to your agenda will increase three-fold. Go ahead, put a future narrative on your calendar and remain in hope for an exciting day today. Become more faithful to a prosperous future and you’ll light up the world.
