There is a difference between emptiness and spaciousness. Space fulfills.
Several years ago, I sat on my porch reflecting. I had “everything” – the well-paying job, the relationship, the house, the money – you name it. I thought to myself I have it all. And in that moment, I never felt emptier or more destitute.
Fullness is space. Emptiness, harder to describe, is but a deadening hollowness, an illusory feeling of not being or not having enough. I was like many who thought “adding” to myself would fulfill, but it turned out to be an anxiety-inducing task to keep score outwardly.
Fulfillment comes when space fills you. When room within you is made, it’s never filled with hollowness, but with a hallowed essence. Satiating and inviting. It’s making quiet time for yourself, making amends, and learning of your own mastery. Once you make conscious contact with that, there is nothing in the world you’d give it up for.
Space is Wisdom’s womb and Light’s conduit. The imagination is ignited and peace oozes from that transparent substance. It’s the Spirit of Truth which is fulfilling, and this will be reflected in things you give away. Clean out your bank account – I dare you. Clean out your closets, your cars, everything. Make space for the Blow Out Sale. Everything must go!
The spacious keep inheriting. The empty are hoarding and clutching, preserving, and saving – their emptiness is insatiable, sent away hungry. They keep bottom-feeding, even though they seem to have so much. The spacious float around. The empty have been shunned. I was one of those empty ones, sent away with “everything.”
I was as vacant as a penthouse suite with the plastic still on the furniture; but the source of fulfillment is truth. The soothing balm is silence. The healing is stillness.
The room is filled with spacious firmament, not just the person sitting in it.
