The printing press of success.

The formula for success is elusive. We have a faulty perception that life is about receiving. What releases momentum and great wealth is a mystery to the poor. It’s about realizing you have so much. Then, you’re so rich, you won’t know what to do with it. It’s like that movie, Brewster’s Millions. He has a chance to inherit $300 million, but only if he could firstly spend $30 million in 30 days, under strict rules and supervision.

Brewster could not own any assets that were not already his at the end of the 30 days. He was to get value for the services of anyone he hires, he was not to willfully destroy any intrinsically valuable items he buys, he could donate 5% to charity and lose 5% more by gambling, and he could not give any of it away. Finally, he had to keep the challenge a secret.

I suppose his great uncle was to teach him to be sick of money. You are Brewster, and you have much. So much, it’s a challenge to give it away. It’s a challenge because you keep gaining assets – that’s against the rules. You can’t earn, and you can’t let people in on your secret. It’s like you’re a printing press for wealth, and each act of giving makes you exponentially wealthier. That was Brewster’s problem. He kept getting karma, payback in triplicate. He spent the money on lavish parties, travel, and gifts, while also donating and gambling a small percentage. It kept coming back like a boomerang on steroids.

The formula for success is giving. Give, and the printing press roars. It’s hard to hoard and save after that, or to be afraid of losing. It just keeps coming once you realize the power. Now that’s success – printing your own assets from nothing but a cheerful, giving heart.
