Building – what’s in a verb?

I used to be one of these people who “couldn’t wait.” Are you that way? I can’t wait for this or that! That’s when you love the results so much, they cloud the provision and love of labor. They overshadow the provision of daily bread.

We may think that daily bread is tangible, but it’s not. Daily bread are assignments attached to your desires, goals, and dreams. If you’re plagued by what you want, you can’t wait. Once you want it, you’ll hire a landscaper and be “done with it.” For what reason? Why outsource what you truly want – the labor of love.

Our goals give us a provision, the wonderful world of work. We’re dream builders. Working towards something is exciting. Having a little to do today makes you happy. The business of “not having” is what gets us bogged down. But “not having” is a blessing that gives us chores. You get to do it – make something out of nothing.

When I moved into my house, the garden was weeds. I saw the vision of what it could be. I couldn’t wait to get my hands in the dirt. I didn’t take the attitude that I “couldn’t wait” for results. I couldn’t wait to begin. Weight loss, healthy living, exercise, wealth-building, business-building, etc., are not about the building as a noun, but the building as a verb. It’s about the actions. Isn’t that lovely? Life is a verb. Don’t you love the work? Results are for the birds, literally. My garden is a haven for birds. But the love was always in the labor. It’s all about work. It’s all about action. It’s all about what you get to do today. Results are overrated. The love is in building as a verb. The building, as a noun, doesn’t provide you with much.
