The folly of Plan B.

Tuesday, August 13, 2024

Many people are afraid that what they have will be taken away from them. And that’s why we grasp and hoard. Overeating is a deep-seated fear that there won’t be enough in the future, so the creature stores up. We always have a “just in case” mentality. Just in case there isn’t a God who is the everlasting supply, I’ll make a plan B. It’s a certain level of faith, I get it.

Most people fear that just maybe, there isn’t an all-providing presence in the world. We simply fear that no-one is at the wheel, and “just in case,” we’d better be extra prepared. With all of our emergency funds, plan B’s, and rainy day alternates, what happens when those fail? Is there a plan C, D, or E?

There is only plan A. If you believe that God can be surprised, then you should have a plan B. But how can the omniscience of the universe be surprised? Do you think God, the all-knowing ultimate reality, is sitting up in heaven acting shocked at the condition of the world, your life, and those challenges that you face?

No, there is only The Plan. The Plan is happening now. It’s as is and will be forever. But we’re surprised, or so we think we are. The supreme reality is rolling back its intelligence, pretentiously, in something called a human, an illusion or image of God. You’re not really that ignorant – you’ve got some faith, right? You know deep down that the universe is not without a captain and neither are you. Plan B? Come on – as if plan A isn’t already known by the omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent Godhead. How can Plan A not be The One and only plan? Come on – who are you fooling? Rainy day or not, God already knows about it.
