Being an effective speaker.

Public speaking is feared. It’s called glossophobia or speech anxiety. I have 0 fear of speaking in public. If I were asked to give a speech about quantum physics, I could talk about what I know. If I were asked to give a speech about the economy, I could talk about what I know. In other words, I have no fear of being honest. I can be effective, even if I know little to nothing.

People don’t necessarily hear the content of your words. They hear the energy, the character, the charisma, the charm, and the depth. Words themselves mean little. From where they come means a great deal more. If they come from fear, you’ll hear rambling and noise. If they originate from a deep place, you’ll hear truth.

When Paul addressed the church at Corinth and at Philippi, he always used a particular salutation, “Grace and peace to you from God our Father.” It was as if Paul was speaking on behalf of God. I’d go so far as to say he was speaking as God. Does God Almighty have a voice? I believe so.

Words can be penetratively honest, profound, and thought-provoking if the writer or the speaker is connected to the origination of depths within. When you read words that originate from a depth, it’s as if they seem to be spoken directly to you. Words can be direct, but only if they come from a deep place within the speaker or writer. They can cut through the noise of rambling, but only if you trust that they will arise when you need them to. Want to be effective at speaking, writing, or in all action? Realize who you are and from where all action, intention, and words originate. Connect to the source within, and you’ll have the most effective words you’ll ever need.
