Let yourself down.

Compassion is not allowing others to hurt you. Compassion doesn’t allow the image of “me” verses “them.” It dissolves the concept of self fighting the concept of other. The root of suffering is always within.

The ego loves a fight. The image of “self” is bolstered by an image “enemy.” The bulwark of an ego is someone who is out to get you. The foundation of the image of “me” is in the alienation of “other.” Compassion disallows this delusional conflict within the psyche.

Ignorance is the mode of operation today. People behave compulsively, without intention, and in an unknowing way. I know it sounds like I’m saying people are blameless, but compassion understands. One who is compassionate understands the misunderstanding. They see the delusional fight of self and other happening within their own minds.

Peace begins with a truce, not with other, but with the idea of self. That truce lets down the graven image of “me.” Give up the ghost. If someone gives up the ghost, they stop trying to do something because they no longer believe they can do it successfully. When you realize the concept of self cannot successfully do anything, it’s an actualization of divine truth.

Give up the fearful clinging to self-image. Neutralize existence. Disallow “others” to get in your mind and hurt you. You can eliminate the enemy, not by eradicating them, but by dissolving your image and their image in your mind. A graven image, or an idol (a concept of a person or a god) is not a figurine or a statute. The worst graven images are the concepts of “self” and “other” created and controlled in the imagination. Let yourself down. Be done with it and make peace.
