I’d love to give a TED talk. It would be about how silly we are. One day, you’ll take off this bodysuit, this bag of skin, and give up the roles you play. When your role is done, your rotting corpse will be a delicious meal for the worms. The worms are playing their part, but it’s all one and the same. Your personality, the expression you play in this world will evaporate too.
Has anyone ever thought that the universe is in total balance and in absolute control of itself? Is there something wrong? If you ask that question there is, so you can’t avoid the play. Something is wrong in the sense that when you go to a movie, the main character gets into a bind and you, the viewer “get involved.” If you aren’t careful, you’ll forget that the actor you see on the screen has a real life that she returns to when the director yells, “Cut!”
You’re playing a role, but you haven’t an idea of who The Actor is. I say in my TED talk that we can drop the act, so we can sense The Actor. Who are we if not the universe acting out? You can get involved in the movie on the screen of space, but from time to time, drop it, cut it out.
The Director and The Actor are the same, and you are pretending not to know whilst getting heavily involved in your role. This image you call “me,” is caught up in the illusion of the dramatic role. One day, you’ll hear “Cut!”, and say, “Let’s do it again, but this time, I’ll want to be more aware of who is really acting in this play. That way, I can enjoy it more, even in the hard times, because I know that my act isn’t Real. It’s a re-action. The only thing that’s real is underneath, The Actor.”
