At the heart of everything you desire is one thing – freedom. You’re looking for liberation to be yourself and to express yourself effortlessly, honestly, and boldly. If you’re looking for permission to honor your will, then look no further. Your life is for you to do as you will.
You can’t do God’s will, if the idea of God is separate from the idea of yourself. Otherwise your will is “out there” somewhere in the ethos, and you’ll always second guess yourself; you’ll follow the crowd; or you’ll insidiously ignore your inner prompting in order to feel like a servant, a giver, or a humble person. That merely serves the ego.
Jesus said, “I and my father are one.” If he had had an image of a God in the sky ruling over people, then Jesus would have been in the sky, ruling over people. But he was on earth. The ego is the idea of self, separate from God, but ancient wisdom has been trying to point people to the fact that there is no difference.
God is free to do whatever he wants. If you were God, you’d be free too, but most people see themselves as separate, and are enslaved to the idea that they cannot do as they will, but as they are obligated to, or as they ought to, or as they should. If only you realized that your gift is to do as you will, and that this gift lies within you, you’d burst out of your prison. Set the captive free. “Thy will be done” isn’t about some power “out there.” It’s about the kingdom, the power, and the glory here and now. To whom does that refer, if not you? God is not “out there.” Reconcile any notion of separateness, claim your life, do as you will, and set yourself free.
