It comes full circle. The edge of despair is a good sign.

In the middle ages the world was flat. Few would sail to the edge to see what was out there. The skeptical filled in the darkness with monsters and demons, while those who forged ahead reaped the rewards.

It seems painful to live with not knowing. But we unknowingly live with the unknown all the time; and we simply don’t know it. You don’t know that you’ll make it to tomorrow. When you have a green light, you don’t know if the other side is red or that the driver will obey. Everything hangs together with faith.

We have to believe. We have to believe in democracy in order for it to work. We have to believe in medicine in order for it to work. We have to believe in money in order for it to have value, and we have to believe in the future in order for it to bring prosperity. Skepticism and distrust unravel it; and above all we have to believe in ourselves.

Distrust is killing us. Faith will restore us. Humanity thinks there is an edge to the world, and we are edgy. Our minds fear, but our spirits are stirring to explore! But what if we fall off the edge? The universe is spherical. The apparent horizon is an illusion, and we’re being pushed to the so-called brink. Test it. Walk “out there” and look into it. Only those who are willing to go to the “edge of the world,” stretch their necks and look down will see possibility, and more treasures awaiting. Distrustful people turn the unknown into demons. Full circle, the brink of despair is the path to new life, new possibility, and new treasures. Sail into the horizon. Lean into the unknown. It’s the only way to learn that your fear is unfounded and your treasures lie just beyond the apparent edge. Edgy people are flat-world thinkers.
