The Real Truth about Selfishness.

Tuesday, February 27, 2024

Your reputation doesn’t have anything to do with you – it’s outside of your jurisdiction. If you want others to approve of you, you’re missing what matters – your self approval. You must simply detach from the false notion of what others might be thinking of you. In the long run, it has no merit.

How do you focus on yourself without it coming across as selfish? Selfishness is never about you either. Selfishness is about trying to get attention from others – it’s still about them. Trying to get reactions, likes, subscribers, invitations, or seen as “the best,” gives the keys of approval to others. Selfishness is concerning yourself solely about what others think of you and what they do for you. Selfish people want recognition or attention. Selfish people are seeking externally, no matter how you slice it up!

Selfless people focus internally – beyond the ego and into the spirit. They do what they love, even if nobody sees. They don’t get pulled into the opinions of others. Selflessness is doing because you simply love it. If you don’t love it, say no. That’s honest. Selfless people do because they want to, they love to, and they receive pleasure and joy.

Selfishness is a futile attempt to see yourself through the eyes of others. Selfish people are unhappy because they are really neglecting themselves. Paying attention to your heart’s desires and following your inner truth is what makes people see you as honest, generous, and kind. Isn’t that something? When you honor your Truth, you’re not being selfish, you’re being responsible. You’re responding to your inner light, and that’s how to build a reputation – honoring the truth within yourself. Everything else is pure selfishness.
