I am the way, the truth, and the light.

If a millionaire can be self-made, then why can’t a poor person be self-made? Being poor is a state of mind. Being rich is a state of mind. Being single is a state of mind. Being married is a state of mind. If someone hurts you, it’s how you frame it, so being hurt “by” someone is a state of mind. The secret is to not let the mind grab a hold of anything. Your mindset is what traps you.

The laws of the universe apply to everyone, otherwise we live in a sinister universe that is cruel and random. If circumstances or the government are the reason why people can’t seem to get ahead, then Oprah Winfrey, Morgan Freeman and countless others who came from deplorable conditions are gods. But I believe them to be absolutely normal humans with a gift few have – the ability to change their minds from I can’t to I am.

Going from poor to rich is a change of mind. Everyone is self-made. If someone can be a self-made millionaire then they can be a self-made deprived person. Gandhi was an example. He didn’t want money. He wanted to remain poor, but so much money came to him that it was hard to keep him poor. The poor cannot get rich, but they can receive money. When they get it, they usually lose it again. Being poor or rich is a mindset. It’s all coming from you. One of the hardest things to do is to take responsibility for your mindset. I can’t take credit for the good things in my life, and then wonder “why me?” when something goes awry. It is all me. I create the way. That’s what Jesus meant when he said, “I am the way, the truth, and the light.” We all are. Now go free yourself from the mindsets that keep you trapped.
