Defining the impossible is impossible.

We really don’t know what gratitude is, do we? Try to put appreciation into words. I’ve said it before, but words don’t allow us to encapsulate absolute truth. God doesn’t allow us to encapsulate him either, but countless numbers have tried. If you have figured it all out, you may think you have the answer, but you don’t have The Answer. People who feel they’ve gotten The Answer try to spread the so-called good news, but it only seems to spread more confusion, pain, and suffering. Let’s put it this way, God doesn’t like to have his picture taken. Lots of people have pictures of what they think is God, rubbing people’s faces in what amounts to rubbish.

One of the challenges of being a writer is that words don’t possess meaning. You have meaning, but not absolute truth. The minute you think you understand love, it foils you . The moment you think you understand God, He eludes you. When you describe gratitude, it falls flat. You simply must experience love, God, and gratitude. Calling them “mysterious” gets you nowhere either.

All of this can’t be pinned down, but allow me to try. That’s the fun of being a writer, a quest to make the impossible possible. Here’s my attempt: Gratitude is a realization for the gifts of all conditions – life itself. Love is an outflow of this realization, expressed in emotion, action, and attitude. God is love. I am love. You are love. Now it’s your turn to make it meaningful. Defining the impossible is impossible, but it is possible to get closer. If these words helped you get closer, then my work is meaningful. And for that, I am grateful.
