Bad news will win, if we don’t counterbalance. But negativity cannot exist all alone. Yes, we all know what’s wrong, that’s the easy thing to see. And being negative doesn’t require a special skill, a refined talent, a resourcefully clever mind, or a willingness to help. Solutions require creative, and loving effort. Remember, if you can see what’s wrong, that means that buried in the bad news is something positive. In a world of polarities, bad cannot exist without good.
Every hopeless situation has a possibility for correction. Negativity is deceitful because it can seem like that’s all there is. It can overwhelm the mind, usurp conversations, and corrupt attitudes. You have to be careful and vigilant to catch yourself getting sucked into the pit of despair, falsely believing that the flip side is nonexistent.
But bad news gets all the attention, that’s not fair. There is always another side. If there is bad news on TV tonight, there then has to be good news somewhere else. Giving sole attention to negativity isn’t getting us anywhere. If you can see the problem, then it means the solution is just hidden away, waiting to be discovered. Negativity just shrouds the bright side, it can never wash it completely away. Negativity itself is an incomplete story. Bring out the whole picture, the truth that the bright side can never vanish, it’s just repressed and diminished by the negatively active mind. Negative is easy, but positive takes just a bit more creativity, time, effort, and attention. The good side is always there. Even behind the clouds, the sun shines brightly, don’t forget. Will you catch yourself thinking despairingly? Look just a bit more closely at the whole story. There is something good to find in the ashes. Be the first one to spot it, and bring the bright side out of its hiding place.
