The creative process is often one that unfolds and gains momentum after the initial action towards a goal has been taken. Creativity blossoms when you are willing to learn as you go. It likes room for improvisation, and it’s totally fine with not knowing all the variables that may arise. Yes, planning is important, but you can begin to trust that inspiration will follow once you convert inertia into action. A beginning gesture towards a goal, is a simple organism that actually begets more inspiration, more ideas, and more creativity. Creative abundance is stored within the seed of a simple beginning gesture that leads towards your goal.
The fullness of your potential is never revealed to you prior to you your first step towards what you want to accomplish. If you want to write a book, you must first have a plan yes, but unleashing potential is in the first few words that you put on the paper. Step into the unknown – you may surprise yourself at what ideas arise after you begin working. If you want to paint, yes you have to have a mental image first, but the real magic happens when the brush hits the paper. Step into the unknown – you may surprise yourself at the talents you have after you see the colors appear on the canvass. Starting something new is often judged as “foolish” by the mind. But your mind will never know your potential until it sees the outcome and the evidence of your action. Greatness is always achieved by action, regardless of not knowing the big picture.
