Let no disaster cross your mind!

Friday, October 9, 2026

Currently, I’m in my den. Out front, “my truck” is there. However, do I know? Someone could have taken it, but I don’t know until I go out and see. But I am confident, my assumption is enough. I don’t doubt my assumption.

My truck is a Toyota. It’s reliable. I trust it’s there and that when I turn the key, it will start. When I drive, I never doubt myself or others or my truck! I assume I will complete my journey before I start out, I never doubt.

But there always lies the possibility of failure, wreckage, damage, loss, or some other variance. I don’t consider it. I think and feel “reliability” by not thinking of disaster, not thinking what if, not thinking failure. I confidently drive, but I am still assuming.

I don’t check my refrigerator or my cupboard. I don’t check my living room to see if my pipe organ is “still there” or if the on-switch works. It too, could be gone or malfunctioning. I would place money on it working now, without checking first. I assume. I know. I’m confident even with remote possibilities of loss or failure.

I don’t check whether each light bulb is “still working.” I sleep soundly, not fearing if I will awake. I purchase groceries and pay bills with the joyful expectancy of abundant supply.

I have never seen an empty cupboard before I’ve seen an empty cupboard. My cup is full.

Is your cup full? I assume. It’s always working, and it’s always available. Disaster never crosses my mind. My cup spills over. I’m overjoyed and overly confident with my assumptions.

What disaster is crossing your mind?

Live as easily as you turn the switch – expectantly, confidently, and with no thought of it “not working.”
