That’s the Way It Is

If I evaluate what I think about the future, what I think is not true. In other words, what I think is a thought—an occurrence itself, not the “future” occurrence of which I speak. A thought of a future event is always a current happening.

Stop thinking, if just for one moment, and ponder the quality of the moment itself, bereft of thought. If we speak about events to come or people that did or will do this or that, that speech itself is uneventful. The event to come or persons of which we speak are not the speech itself. The word “food” will never stop your hunger.

The quality of the moment seems to be belied by a negative thought or a thought of lack, but underlying Reality cannot be belied by a superficial pointing which denies the one pointing. When there is a lack of thought, there seems to be an increase in peace. But the crease of peace never ceases.

The undergirding Way cannot be defiled, stopped, or wronged. You are the undergirding flow that lies beneath the belied thought. Thought cannot contradict what is truer—the flow of Substance from the one who “points away” with speech.

Just because you believe your thoughts doesn’t make them true. The thoughts are not the “things” themselves. We serve ourselves no justice to think a thought has any power to create or overpower. Nothing is created. It’s all begotten, not made. Familiar, not foreign. No one is quenched by the word “water,” nor drowned by it.

Is a thought damning? No more than the word “cold” makes me shiver.

The Great Way is not dammed (blocked) nor damned (cursed), but forever undulating beneath the thought which seems to prevent its flow. But the flow underlies and defies language.

That’s the way it is.
