An arbitrary justification.

I know someone who’s mother is staunchly against her son being gay and supplicates on his “behalf”, constantly. She fears for his salvation and argues that if gay sex were God’s will, then the gays would be able to procreate.

That would imply that sex is only for procreation. She’s been through menopause. No sex for her. If sex were only for procreation, there are lots of people breaking God’s rule of logic.

That’s like saying walking is for getting you somewhere. What about all the people who walk for pleasure? Or who cannot walk? Or that having a job is to earn a paycheck. What about all those people that do stuff they love, like sex, like comedy, music, or a blog like this? Is life for paying the bills? Is sex for procreation? Is eating for survival? Is walking just to get there? Then how and why can we do those things for shits and giggles?

We must realize dual or even triplicate purposes. Walking can be for walking’s sake; for joy’s sake; for heart-healthy’s sake. Or it can be God forsaken for God’s sake! You can make it whatever you want, for goodness sake.

Everyone will justify their reasons, and my favorites are “God’s reasons.” The Ten Commandments have been printed so we don’t kill each other, but that doesn’t stop the murderers. “Honor your father and mother?” I guess my friend likes “disrespecting” his mother (by having gay sex).

If sex is merely for procreation, then as a gay man, I’ll give it the ol’ college try with my boyfriend! It’s the least I can to honor God’s relentless command!

If you are here to procreate, then go screw like rabbits.

If you are here to enjoy, then go screw like rabbits.

If you are here to judge my reasons through an arbitrary justification, then go screw yourself.
