One thing that gives me tremendous hope is that people have overcome the same kind of circumstances I feel are holding me back. Do they have some special talent? They are mortals doing immortal things.
What has been demonstrated is not to rub it in your face, but to show you what is possible and more. I like to admire others then aspire to do even more. Jesus told us that we would do the things he was doing and even greater! And we have. Humans have outperformed Jesus. Not only have we walked over water with tremendously clever devices and bridges, we’ve built vessels and cruise ships where we can live on the water! Beat that!
Modern technology would have been astonishing to those in the ancient Middle East. Jesus’ magic tricks would have looked primitive next to a modern cornea transplant. Modern medicine has done things like healed the blind, cured the deaf, mended limbs and created synthetic ones, and eradicated diseases like polio.
Aspiring to do greater things was what his message was about. We’ve already done greater things than he did. What an amazing thing to consider, that the miraculous god that was thought to have descended into a singular human lives on in all humans, and in medical science.
Jesus’ consciousness was advanced. He was aware of ancient wisdom also taught by the Buddha some five hundred years before he roamed the planet. His message was not new news. I’m not trying to poo poo him, but I am poo pooing the idea that we are worms to the “second in command.”
Perhaps this personal deification is really not what it’s cracked up to be unless we all get that honor! The people we admire (and falsely worship) are showing us it can be done.
Do it. Be an immortal mortal. In other words, greater than your own limits and limbs.
