There’s a certain mystique to the great outdoors. Who doesn’t love star gazing, hiking, sitting by a campfire, or just looking up at the clouds? However, the great indoors are to be loved too!
I love sitting indoors on a rainy day, looking through the windows, watching the ground get soaked. In recent years (I’m 51 now) I’ve learned to go out in the rain and play. I have a secluded, private backyard paradise and clothing is optional. You’ve never lived until you’ve danced naked in the rain. And you’re happy to have shelter afterwards.
I have options. I can be cozy indoors on a cold winter’s night. Or I can be outside, soaking it all in. This symbolizes the best of “both worlds.”
The physical world has so much. I love my bicycle, my house, my cars, and my various objets d’arts. But I also love my natural habitat, getting back to the basics. I love being in the body.
Coming to your senses is foundational to your balanced formation. It starts by getting back to nature. How many of us are disconnected from our bodies, our nature, and our truth! When you get back to nature, you will feel the oneness you long for. When you turn off the devices, bring yourself to stillness and quiescence and really enjoy chewing, eating, and smelling your food, you will notice something charming about being a physical/spiritual being.
You’ll notice the best of “both worlds.” Suffering is a sign of imbalance, as is obesity and poor health; lack and deprivation; and feeling something is “off.” If you’re too inside, go outside. If you’re too outside, go inside. There is the best of both worlds nestled here, now.
Recognize your imbalance and do something about it. The best of both worlds awaits your presence. We need not renounce a single thing, except perhaps imbalance.
