Knowhow is a mystery. But certain individuals directly encounter knowhow and practice its power everyday. They do their best to expose knowhow in the form of instruction, but instruction is woefully short of truth.
You can read shelves full of manuals and never know the knowhow, misperceiving it to be in the steps outlined in a book. Read recipes galore; but until you get in the kitchen, you don’t know how to cook.
A how-to guide is sweet, but the knowhow isn’t in the book. However, knowhow is intimately knowable. It’s known through a series of “aha” moments, leading you to unique success.
Writing down your steps seems practical, but books like the Bible, or the Tao, don’t “contain it.” They are well-meaning, but I can read archives full of scripture, and never illuminate knowhow, or expose it in words. In the same way as I can read libraries full of piano instruction books, piano-playing always remains demonstrative. The knowhow presents itself, showing you The Way. That “way,” the way of specificity, is like your strands of DNA. Who can copy it?
And so, you get esoteric “teachings” that say if you want love, love more. If you want to grow rich, “think rich.” Success is something you attract. Wealth is a state of mind. Spiritual awakening comes from sitting in silence. And yet, the knowhow itself seems to be a spontaneous arising. Like a thief in the night, you realize knowhown isn’t written but known.
Reverse engineering pathways is astonishingly misleading, but how many people memorize scripture, yet distrust, worry about money, wonder if God will help, and feel capricious forces are opposing their fortune, safety, success, and security? Knowhow is not in a book. Knowhow lives, breathes, moves, and has its being as you and in you and through you and in what appears as “not you.” The way, the knowhow – that’s you and me here and now. Living and breathing.
