The root of problems and suffering stems from a deep distrust. Superficially, it seems broken. Substantially, it’s perfect, whole, and serene. Anxiousness is distrust disguised as various shades of paranoia. You’ve got to get into the dark corners of your mind to see this. Distrust hides in the strangest places – “outside” of us. But what I learned is that distrust stems from me, and goes “outward” into the world. I projected distrust, keeping what I wanted far away from me.
Trust is a bridge to paradise, outside of logic’s reach. Logic tells you it’s not here, it’s impossible, it’s not working. Logic judges and sees difference. Trust builds deference – humble submission and respect for all things, even contrast.
Trust bridges the gap between reaching for a dream and becoming the ease of dreaming itself. Trust steps into the space of “not enough” and makes it more than enough, now. Trust steps into the realm of “being realistic,” and turns it into magically here and now.
Trust turns the devil incarnate, the enemy, into God Almighty, the advocate – releasing the pretense of opposition.
Trust turns the idiot into the genius; the poor into the rich; the lost into the found; the downturns into creative enterprises; and the shocking news into no news at all. Trust is the great mediator. Trust is the bridge in the gap of logic, and logic “needs” to see everything before you do anything. It’s the link that knocks down barriers and smooths out obstacles, making life so simple, you wonder why you didn’t let it go sooner.
Trust is learning what’s in the way, then becoming the way. Your success has always been inevitable, but lean not into your logic, but into the unknown. Build deference. That’s the only way to make a difference against the so-called force of darkness and evil.
