My best friend was impulsive and bought cars, a plane, motorcycles, trains, and antiques to the brim. We would posthumously discover the secret to his “success” – mounds of debt.
Bring something into your life, and it lives. We manifest living things – jobs, people, possessions. Manifestation is related to the word infestation. Infest means overrun or overspread.
It seems like dreams wiggle out of our minds and into reality. However, when actualized, dreams remain dreamy. Everything lives, which means they evolve and die. Museum curators understand the headache of keeping objects on “permanent” display. Marble turns to dust. Paintings rot. Relationships wither or grow. Businesses take off or flop. Even a brand-new home develops snags. “If we had to do it all over again…” Preferences change and wiggle out of memory. Desires die or strengthen.
You can proclaim things into existence, but you cannot claim them nor prevent their extinction. You can put in your order, but you cannot order things around. They get out of hand. They aren’t yours to boss around.
Can I take credit? If I do, credit means debt. I’m on the hook. But real living is “off” the hook. My friend Robbie let spending get out of hand. He let possessions possess him. He got confused about the upper hand.
If you think you can dominate or control or keep it from getting out of hand, you’re confused. If you understand the upper hand principle, you’re free. Your wisdom releases you from playing God. No claims, no debts, and no holding onto what wiggles, no matter how hard you clench your cold, dead fist.
The upper hand is out of “my” hands, so how can I let anything get out of what’s not mine? The upper hand remains dominant. Surrender, you’re overrun by an infestation of what lives out of your hands. Let it be.
