Many of us feel like life is encroaching. But it’s not, it’s expanding. We feel closed in by so many opposing forces; but that’s not how it works. You’re radiating outwards. There’s a feeling of claustrophobia that petrifies and hardens the individual. We’re frozen in our tracks, but spiritual revelation is a thawing of sorts. It might also be like the pupils dilating in the dark. It’s a conversion of being closed in and closed off to expanding outward, empty and free.
If you think of warming up, you’re trying to free yourself from inertness. You’re trying to get the blood flowing. To get the ideas moving. To get the stiffness out. That’s what a warmup is; but what if you lived that way? Many of us aren’t warmed up. We’re crisp and cold. Rigid and inflexible. We’re frozen, unable to gain anything of heightened potential. The body is atrophied. The spirit is dead. The mind is stuck.
Each morning is an opportunity to work out the kinks. To thaw from cold thoughts. To move, despite what seems immovable. That’s called leeway. Leeway is the available amount of freedom to move or act.
We believe we’re in tight spaces. Life has encroached and doomed us. But has it? Go into a pitch black forest. Sit for a second, then your pupils will dilate. It will allow more light in what seems like doomsday blackness. Just enough to see that yes, I can take a step!
The dark isn’t solid. Our eyes of faith dilate. Our stiff joints can move. Our crispiness can wither. Our coldness can thaw. There is always leeway, even if a sliver. You might not be able to move far, see beyond, or do much except adapt – but leeway allows, and that is enough momentum. Possibility lives, always.
