The version in my head is always different. The version in my head is a world of words! Reality is wordless. No-one has been able to successfully render a model of reality, but we keep trying. Consider this blog such a tawdry try. By the time we formulate a version of life, real life has left.
Your description of life is what seems to allow you to change it; but you are describing a memory. The misalignment of living in the head versus living Real Life is what causes suffering. When you get out of your head and into the real world, you’re free. Consider that a naive way to live, but reality will set in.
Life is alive. Alive means free. When you live in your head, you’re living in your past, dead version of life. Real life is “out here.” Out front, where you can only see and admire it like a handsome piece of art, but you can’t touch, own, grab, or alter.
Like priceless art, you can’t touch life, move it, change it, or tell it what to do. But you can admire it. Real life is alive! Fantasy life, the one in your mind, is dead. You can conjure up a fantasy life, but compare it to Reality and you’ll see why you suffer. It pales in comparison. If you don’t have a concept of self, past, and future you are really alive. Are you admiring your concepts or admiring Real Life?
Reality is ensconced in an impenetrable display case, the sanctuary of the unchangeable Eternal Now, which moved ahead, just as we noticed it. It leaves behind artwork called physicality, displays of elusive perfection, the art of illusion and allusion. You can’t touch the Mona Lisa, nor change her, nor own her; but you can be touched by her untouchable perfection.
