I live on a need-to-know basis. I’m off social media, news outlets like NPR, and all information that doesn’t directly influence my daily existence. And do you know what I have discovered? There is no need to know. If I need it, it will come. All I need to know is already here.
99.99% of the information available is like a buffet. A need is defined as something that is required. Are current events required? The information in this blog is definitely not required. It’s for entertainment purposes only.
My news gathering is a bit more immediate. The birds have their heads in the sand, well at least the ostriches do. So why can’t I? The birds are delightfully ignorant. Do I need to be a so-called informed citizen? I vote. I do my part, and then I live harmoniously in my surroundings. I choose wisely at the buffet.
Krispy Kreme donuts – can you live without them? If you lived everyday without French fries for the rest of your life, what would be the result? If you lived without ultra-processed foods, what would be the result? If you lived without the so-called news, what would be the result? If you drive by the hot-and-now sign, your mouth waters. I know that after the second bite, however, I would realize that I could have done without it.
I recently spent some time with my ex brother-in-law and his family. They have an 20-month-old. She doesn’t know much. She doesn’t even know how to talk much. But she knows more than I do. She knows love, gentleness, how to follow her parent’s directives, expressiveness, and blind trust. My greatest potential comes from a 2-year-old. That seems like all I need to know. The rest I leave on the buffet for those who “need” it.
