Isaiah says, “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.” It never dawned on me until recently, but I realized that I am the Mother Ship, the leading edge into the darkness. I’m opening the doors, creating the opportunities, and generating the supply. I’m the master navigator, creating a path through what appears as the void.
Gary Zukav puts it differently in The Seat of the Soul. He says The Mother Ship is ahead, and we, as individuals, are the small boats following in its wake. The Mother Ship is that great, unknowable part of ourselves that we blindly follow. We get reports – snippets of the destinations ahead through dreams and desires, but the dinghy following behind (our limited human consciousness) blindly trusts. We see darkness, but move assuredly into it.
The Mother Ship knows the shortcut. If the dinghy led, she would have to stay close to the shoreline, making sure she could see as she went along. She has to see the evidence before she believes. The dinghy is doubting Thomas. But The Mothership knows a direct path – right into the blackest black. She’ll take you to the very edge of your fear, to hell really, or at least it will seem that way. The best way forward is with a blindfold on and with the assurance of total faith.
If you really want to go somewhere, get behind the Mother Ship. She’ll take you direct. It’s a dark and lonely route, not exactly scenic. But you can trust. Just off the bow is daybreak. But you’ll have to sail into many dark nights wondering if you’ll ever get there. Keep following. I promise you, she knows where she’s going. I don’t know how. I just know.
