We’re often told that being first is greedy and self-centered, but I think we’ve been lied to. First place is truly the best. It’s the head of the pack, and the view upfront is glorious. It’s the champion spot. I love to be the head of the pack. First place is the limelight and the source of life and energy. It’s your ticket to freedom. Why lag behind in last place? It sucks back there. If you want to be a winner, be first.
Be the first to open up, and then the rest of the world opens its arms to you. Be the first to smile, and the world smiles back at you. Be the first to compliment, and the world compliments you back. Be the first to encourage, and the world encourages you. Be the first to reach out, and the world reaches back. Be the first to give all that you’ve got, and the world gives you all its got. Be the first to invite, and you’ll be invited. Be the first to say, “Yes, I can,” and the world will show you that you can indeed. Be the first to say what you want, and the world will give it to you; but first, you have to say what you want. Be the first to say, “I’m sorry,” and the world will be so forgiving.
I think last place is horrible. I lived “back there” most of my life, but let me tell you something, being first is the best. Be first and the world puts you first. We’re at the bottom of the heap waiting to be put first, not realizing that what we’re looking for starts with us first. Go first, and you’ll win.
