The spirit yearns. The ego wants.

The spirit calls from deep within. It knows what needs to be done. It knows what direction to go, what actions to take, and when to take them. It knows that the direction is always from within to without, never without to within. The spirit calls to serve. The spirit needs not a thing in this world but to serve what needs doing.

From deep within you, your truth, your innately free self calls. Sometimes it’s downright nagging. It doesn’t pester you like the mind does, however. It nudges you until you can’t not do it. It’s compelling, not compulsive. It’s convicting, not conniving. It’s life-giving, not draining.

The ego will kill you if you keep working and striving, draining yourself to a nub. It will sicken you and bring you to your knees, sometimes literally. When you serve the ego, it leaves you zonked, devoid of any energy and completely depleted. But the actions from the well of the spirit will release what’s being bottled up and give you life eternal.

The spirit will give you directives that lead to aliveness and fulfillment. That’s because it’s motivated by love, and love flows endlessly from the deep, where its infinite energies compel you to act. The ego is a compulsion to act out. Acting out is thrashing, grabbing, meddling, and pushing your way forward on the surface. True action moves with honesty and underlying conviction. It perseveres in letting the way be made known without force, haste, or receiving. The spirit merely gives way – the way forward. The ego pushes its way through.

The ego is desperate and it wants and wants. The spirit longs. It longs to express itself because it has no wants. It only yearns to express, act, and give. The spirit is the true way.
