Ah, the sweet joys of success! Everyone loves it when things work out swimmingly. We love getting what we work for. We love seeing results. We love achieving goals, but one of the things we don’t realize is that the attainment of success is a principle misunderstood.
Let’s look at some similar words to success – succulent, succumb, succor, and succinct. They all share one thing in common, the idea of openness and receptivity. There’s a famous story of one of the first astronauts to successfully travel to outer space, and upon his arrival back to earth, a reporter asked him if he had seen God. The astronaut replied “yes,” and then the reporter asked, “So what’s God like?” The astronaut quipped, “She’s black.”
Suc, as a prefix means sub, or under. Cess, as a root word means to move or to yield. So in a sense, you can think of success as getting out of your own way. It’s being supple and open, like the word succulent which means tender, juicy, and tasty. You cannot dominate or alpha your way to success. You open your way and earn the right to it. Potency in the realm of success is softness, allowance, and omega, not alpha. The impotency principle or emptiness goes along with the achievement of success.
Force dominates. Power is tender. Most of us approach success with rigid force. We hold on to results. But what if we were allowing? What if we emptied ourselves from the need to have or to get anything or anyone? Success would just arrive if we yielded. Are you ripe, open, and tender? Relax, receive, and expand, and success will arrive upon your lips. Then, just lick them and enjoy the sweetness.
