Point the finger outward, and inwardly nothing is relieved. Point the finger inwardly, pop the bubble of ignorance, and relieve the pressure. The steam valve is in you, not “out there.” You are the one not giving. You are the one not expressing. You are the one not understanding or being attentive. You are the one not being generous. You are the one not changing and expecting everything and everyone else to change. You are the epicenter of change. Do something different.
The mind cannot understand itself as a problem. It’s like a scanning system that looks on the horizon and pinpoints the exact cause of the problem, never seeing itself as the root. One must transcend the mind to see how it creates problems.
The conscious mind is a problem-solving mechanism. The subconscious mind is problem-making mechanism, and the two are in an unknowing battle. The conscious mind has no idea that it has an evil twin. And the subconscious mind is unaware of its problem-solving hero. Transcendence is an awareness that goes beyond this duality and reconciles one as being of “sound mind.”
Once the mind hones in on something external, including the idea of “myself,” it attacks. It tries to eliminate or alter exteriority, never realizing that the subconscious mind firstly created it from within. Once it attacks, alters, or tries to eliminate the so-called problem, all hell breaks loose in the person who thinks that way. Conflict arises out of a conflicted person who cannot see that their mind is in conflict with itself. If you see a problem in others; use it to change yourself. Use it to change your life. Don’t be a slave to the conditioned mind’s illusory targets. The conscious mind knows not what it’s evil twin is up to. To beat it is to transcend it and to free yourself from the war of the mind.
