Terrorists among us.

If you’ve been a longtime reader of My Morning Motivator, you know I’m not a fan of the news. I subscribe to the Louise Hay philosophy of news gathering – If it’s important, what I need to know will come to me. A quick Google search of headlines will yield words like – unbelievable, shocking, worrisome, devastating, should, would, risk, destroy, etc. Those words pack a punch, and we’re strangely drawn to them.

The left is criticized for being “woke,” and the right is criticized for being “extremist,” but aren’t we all just being terrorists? We’re terrified, and we love it. Terror loves terror. We’re secretly drawn towards the macabre. Typically, those kinds of creepy images are about death, and death has traditionally been portrayed as scary; but read anything about near death experiences, and we learn that death is most wonderful. But, we are still pretending that there’s something “out there” to fear, aren’t we?

There is something within you that doesn’t know. Every human has this incapacity to know everything. That’s why we love terror. We’re drawn to the unknown. But after a while, fearing the unknown loses its effect. A parent who tries to intimate their teenagers by scaring them with threats eventually becomes ineffectual. In other words, the acting gets old.

I got tired of scaring myself, so I decided to stop social media and the news. I haven’t missed a thing, and mostly “the world” is peaceful and serene. If I need to know, it comes. If you’re terrified, it might be time to simply stop. You can live without fear if you take off the mask and see who is underneath. “They” are very familiar. If you want to know who is causing all of this terrorism that creates a general unease in you, look in the mirror. What a “frightening” thought!
