“They” say it’s going to get harder to build wealth in this economy. “Statistics say,” most people fail after the 1st year. “The reviewer” gave this restaurant 3-stars. I’m sure it’s awful. I’m not reading that book, “the critics” tore it to shreds. “Everybody” is doing it. I better try it.
I really wanted to go to this college, but the “Princeton Review” gave them a low rating. I really wanted to retire, but “my accountant” said I couldn’t afford to. I really wanted to major in music, but “my guidance counselor” said music degrees are worthless.
I know that I’m gay, but “God” says it’s bad. I would love to lose weight, but “the expert” on YouTube said it’s too hard. He has 3.5 million followers, so it must be true.
Who are you listening to? Who is “they?” Who are the “experts?” Who is “everybody?” Why do statistics have truth? Hasn’t someone already beaten the statistics? Who is the voice of reason?
If you want to go to that college, why would you let someone else tell you not to? If you want to paint, draw, make music, love someone of your own gender, who must give you permission? Your Truth within will never tell you to harm another, nor yourself. If you are contemplating a heinous act, those are voices in the head. It’s not your Truth. If you listen to “other,” you’re ignoring that still, small voice of reason. Can you hear it, or do “they” have to keep telling you what to do?
“Be still and know that I am God.” “I am the LORD, apart from me there is no God.” The critics, the experts, the statistics – sounds like something apart from me. Apart from me there is no God. Better stick with what I know. Be still and know.
