The route to victory – free to step out now.

Someone I know dreamed of becoming a flight attendant. He felt good about his application to American Airlines. He was hopeful that this would be his route to victory. Within a few days, he learned he was not to be selected for a second interview.

The route to victory is you. When you become dependent upon a specific outcome, rather than relying on yourself, “they” become the route to victory, and “they” will let you down. If flight attending is the real goal, would it matter which airline? What’s at the heart of flight attending anyway – travel, service, helpfulness, or what?

Know that whatever it is that you are longing for, you can find the route to victory now. If attending to and serving others is your goal, find a way to do that on the ground, on a train, in a hotel, on a cruise ship. Ground, sea, or air – does it matter?

I would love to become a well-known, New-York-Times, best-selling author. I’d love it if millions read my words. I’d love to travel the world speaking. But today, I’m writing to myself and those few who read my blog, daily. Today, I had coffee with a beloved, former student who I shared my ideas with, helping him get motivated by his own merits.

If the universe increases my audience, gives me a platform, or a publisher – fine. My hope will always be in myself, and I express myself now, in whatever medium is available to me. I step into the flow of authorship. I step into the flow of motivational speaking and spiritual guidance. I’m practicing my craft now. My hope is in me, for I am the route to victory. I do not pin my hopes on American Airlines or a specific, outward savior. I need no saving hero. I’m free to step out now.
