We have so many great teachers! The Buddha said we were responsible for our own suffering. He puts it this way, “Pain is what the world does to you, suffering is what you do to yourself [by the way you think about the ‘pain’ you receive]. Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.” Helen Schucman said it slightly different in A Course in Miracles: “Let healing be.” Eckhardt Tolle says it in yet another way, “Find death before death finds you.” All of that is to say that you are to look inwardly for the source.
Jesus reminded people that their faith healed, not just his. In the case of the woman with the issue of blood, he said, “Daughter, your faith has healed you.” To the centurion who needed healing for his servant he said to Jesus, “Only say the word.” Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith!” He reminded everyone of the source of healing. Buddha reminded everyone of the source of suffering. They are the same.
Jesus stops short of saying, “If faith heals and restores, then worry kills and makes you sick.” If I rephrase “Your faith has healed you,” I can say “Your worry has made you sick.”
Are you worrying yourself to death? Or are you restoring yourself in the faith that you are OK? Knowing all is well, really knowing all is well is the way to healing. I’m not talking about wishful thinking. Externally it might fall apart, but internally you are the eye of the storm. The option to suffer is yours. That’s the healing freedom. Connecting to source, knowing from whence all comes is the key. You are the problem. You are the solution. You are all in all. Find the source of your suffering and ultimately you can be the source of healing. It’s one in the same.
