Your greatest joy starts with the letter A.

There were many years in my life that if I couldn’t see a way by means of externalities, I didn’t initiate; although on the internal level, I really wanted to. The evidence didn’t add up to piece together a creative endeavor, or something I thought would be cool, so I never started. I relied too heavily upon what I saw as possible, by way of resources like skills, time and/or money. A to Z is impossible, but include all the letters in between, and suddenly it’s child’s play.

Would it be easier if you had what you lacked? Maybe, but then what? If I were ten years younger and had more money, I would do X,Y, and Z. But does it ever occur to anyone that the reward of X, Y, and Z is actually A?

To learn to play the piano, one must play the piano. To learn to fly a plane, one must fly a plane. To learn to paint, one must paint. Your first brushstroke and your last will be the same. If you paint for a lifetime, you’ll be more skillful and masterful combining brushstrokes, but essentially A and Z are still the same. But it’s getting to Z, not being on Z that makes life rewarding!

If you could start on W, everyone would. But you really want A. You want to do it yourself, sequentially and methodically. Who wants a handout or a shortcut? All these people lined up for lottery tickets, come on! Those of us on A know that we are kids reciting the alphabet, having the time of our lives. Kids have more fun, and when they get to Z, they do it all over again, bypassing the people in the handout line. Are you waiting for X? The sequence starts on A, and so does your greatest joy!
