When is enough, enough? Enough is enough when you realize that nothing is enough. You accumulate excess to create some “cushion,” but then how do you determine how thick the cushion “should be?” How much time do you need? How much cash do you need? How many friends do you need? It seems rather arbitrary to me. If there were some metric of deciding when you have enough to move forward, or to feel satisfied, then that metric would be universal.
The law of enough is universal, and that law is that nothing is enough. That’s the fundamental metaphysical truth. How do you arrive at that? Start with the beginning of time itself. The universe came into existence with nothing – no time, no materials, no resources. The universe flowered out of itself. If nothing is enough for the universe to form itself, then surely you have enough to form yourself and your dreams. Many humans have proven this law to be true. They started with nothing, then an idea was born, and then they had something. Isn’t that something?
One day, you’ll learn that you have all of the resources, treasures, ideas, time, desire, fortitude, intelligence, and love that you’ll ever need, right smack dab within your very being. The universe had enough when it started because it had nothing from which to work. So why can’t you begin, now? How many lowly “nothings” on this planet turned into “somethings?” How many simple ideas turned into huge enterprises? How many people with a dream that came out of “nowhere” became huge successes? How did Jesus turn two fishes into enough for 1,000? He knew that nothing was more than enough, and that’s all he ever needed to begin with.
