The god of fear has the mic.

It amazes me what a human can do without. We really don’t need as much as we think we do. Hoarding, overeating, codependency, boredom, and possessiveness are about fear of loss. I’ve often heard that wealthy people worry more about losing their money than do the poor. It just seems so valuable, and to lose it all seems so scary. The value you place on something tends to increase the worry about losing it.

I’m all for appreciation. I’m all for holding something in precious esteem, but we mustn’t be tempted to make the fear of losing it become our god. We mustn’t let change ruin our existence. Worry is the supreme mental aggressor. Fear has the strongest platform of any entity in the world. Fear has the mic. We are curiously drawn towards it. We’re curious about the darkness. We give in to it by running away. We bow before it by stopping before we even try. We worship its enslaving power. Fear is god.

If you can harness fear, you can rule the world. If you can show Truth, you can change the world. Fear is a flimsy disguise for faith. The unknown can be whatever you make of it. But I don’t think it’s anything over which we must create such a fuss. As a matter of fact, all of this so-called unknown has turned out just fine. Look at your own life. When you were facing an unknown, you panicked; but ultimately, it seems to just work out, doesn’t it? Yet we worry about every little thing. If you lose it, if it fails, or if it changes – you’ll adapt. You’ll find a way. In your mind fear says, “Death and destruction will come upon me.” In your heart, faith says, “I am eternal.” Which one is your God?
