Life will get your attention and will snap you out of your delusion. It will take the heaviness of your thoughts and rip them to shreds. It will take your fears and turn them inside out. It will take your judgements, expectations, and beliefs and dissolve them like sugar in water. Life will snatch you up into glory, or sometimes whisk you into hell. Life will rattle you, catch you off guard, make you open your eyes and yell, “Surprise.” It’s all for love.
Most of us live with presumptions that we mistake as absolute truth. Live presumptuously, and the universe will rattle you like a saltshaker. Here’s the key, those so-called surprises all have a singular purpose. They come into your life to renew your mind, to deepen your appreciation for what it means to be a sentient being, and to soften the rough edges of your character. Unconditional love is being carved from within you. Humanity will come to this, but not without a fight.
You can’t outwit the supremacy of the intelligence which governs the universe – how foolish to even think you can outsmart the future! Surprise has a purpose. It’s to strip you down to nothing, leaving you with only your senses, the most precious and universal gift of life. Surprise is tenderizing you. It awakens you to the miracle. It’s sitting in the early morning hours, when the sun rises above the trees, and the cool breeze brushes against your naked body. It’s in the delectable sounds of chirping birds, in the delicate song of the crickets, and in the very breath you are taking right now. Embrace the unknown wonder that is animating it all with great ease, (some drama!), and with absolute precision and control. Stop being presumptuous. Take the guesswork out of it, and just let it happen – surprises and all. It’s all for love, for that’s all there is.
