Everything about living is wave-like. No-one is in a permanent crescendo, despite what you see on social media. If half are in a crescendo, the other half are in a diminuendo. But it’s all one, balanced, flowing movement. Those on the top will come down, and likewise, those on the bottom will come up. Who gets to stay? You cannot stay high. You cannot stay low. You only hinder the tilt with your stubborn mindset.
It’s easy to get high on the crest and to dig in. It’s easy to get sullen in the trough and feel you’ll be there “forever.” The spirit moves. We get stuck in our heads, however. We think we can stay high all the time. We think we’ll always be down in the dumps when there is a downturn. But you cannot fight the transitory wave. Movement is the only constant.
The dynamic, divine flow has a mind of its own. If you are fully awake, you will know this truth. If you are dead, you will believe the illusion of stagnation. Stagnation is like rigor mortis. It’s dead. You’re in constant flux, and so is your environment – a sign of life! Desperate clutching to the crests and holding on to the depression of the troughs are deadly. Can you be the center anchor, the neutral witness that sees the back-and-forth? The wave is always moving. This is the great truth. Be vigilant, especially in a downturn. Be grateful, but don’t hold on to the upturns. You cannot be anywhere forever. Float – your ego is on the surface, riding the ups and downs, but your very being is the anchor that sees the miraculous dynamics from a deeper truth.
