Trying to keep life “contained,” with everything being the same, is tantamount to keeping the lid on a pressure cooker while the heat rises. The lid will invariably burst. We are often unaware that we can outgrow our own situations. What you perceive as an external, fixed condition is not real. All conditions are fluid, and they grow with you. Your life’s situation is like a perfectly fitting glove, customized for your growth, but “giving way” to your flourishing spirit. As you grow and change, so does your environment. No one can cocoon forever. That feeling of nestling into what’s familiar is an illusion.
As you uncoil, your environment will start to give way. People pass or move away; new people come in; new challenges arise; doors open, and all sorts of change ebbs and flows. Too many of us, however, clench down on our situations, trying to keep everything frozen in time. Time cannot be frozen, it’s fluid. The only safety is in gracefully allowing the inevitable – change. Life is guiding you, pushing you to grow beyond your current situation, not to stay within it’s mental confines.
You and your environment are growing in tandem. As you mature, you’re reaching beyond, and the environment is simply responding. Just watch it happen. Old ways, sights, and situations decay. Let the outer shell dissolve to make way for new dimensions. If you don’t recognize this expanding energy within yourself, it will force its way out, and that’s what we call “all hell breaking loose.” Backup and let growth unfold as you see yourself maturing, one day at a time. Be willing to change before things split open and hell and fury awaken you. Be keen and look for the signs of outer decay. Be willing to let the environment change. You can’t stop it. It’s all making space for new blossoms in your life.
