Being worthy of your own prayers.

When we pray for those who are sick, we envision them being whole again. We want more than anything for them to get better. We think of them getting strong, getting out of the hospital, and we hope for their very lives to be filled with joy. When we’re sick, we envision being hospitalized, in pain, or having some terrible, chronic disease. We google our symptoms and we envision the worst. Is that what we do for others? Of course not. We pray for their strength and healing, so why not do that for yourself?

Why can’t we think of ourselves getting that promotion, overcoming that illness or addiction, or having that desired outcome? Why must we wish others well, believe in them, and hope for them, but when it comes to ourselves we can’t envision the best-case scenario? Are you only worthy of your worst-case scenarios and doomsday predictions?

Today, pray for yourself. Envision good thoughts of success, health, and wellness. No need to pray good prayers just for others, then create catastrophic scenarios and beliefs of limitation for yourself. Put yourself on the very top of your prayer list, and you can creatively imagine prosperity and healing for you. That’s not selfish. We are to love our neighbors as ourselves, not more than ourselves! The congratulations and the well-wishing that you give to others can be, and should be applied to yourself. Give yourself that pat on the back, a little encouragement, or some prayers of a happy future. This is a daily practice, and one that can be a tremendous benefit. When you wish others well, you believe in them, and you really hope for their best, please don’t forget to do that for yourself.
