If you’ve lost your way, just stop walking. Don’t turn around. Don’t panic. You are only in a fog. But rather than just blindly moving forward with no destination, do something to feed your soul. I came across an old, Persian poem that might help you understand:
If thou of fortune be bereft,
And thou dost find but two loaves left
To thee—sell one, and with the dole
Buy hyacinths to feed thy soul.
An empty shell of a person has no vision. They have nothing to look forward to. Everyday is the same. That’s how you know you’ve lost your way, and you need flowers. The road to nowhere is dark. If you need newness of life, you need to start with a new vision. The depth of your vitality is calibrated by the sizzle of your dreams. If you keep going down the directionless road, mindlessly following impulse and blindly following the crowd, then your ship has no course, and you’re simply drifting into an iceberg.
Ask yourself, “What do I want?” “Where do I want to go?” “What do I want to create?” “What is my legacy?” Hold your flowers, smell how fragrant they are, look at them lovingly, and ask the divine flow to lift the veil of fog from your dreamless state. These questions ignite a new direction into the unimaginative person. But you have to stop aimlessly walking in the noise. You have to buy some flowers, smell and appreciate their inspiring truth. Stop on the side of the road, spend time in the clearing.
Envision a new path, and it will slowly illuminate. The resonance will lift the clouds and point you forward. Start walking. Once you know where you’re going, the light will move your feet effortlessly. Don’t walk until you begin to envision. If you’ve lost your way, stop and feed your soul.
