I wish that I had been more specific and intentional about my future. That’s not to say that life always dishes out exactly what we order, but having an unclear picture of tomorrow may explain murky, unwanted today’s. A dreamless person is a hopeless one. If you let your fears, doubts, and insecurities taint your vision, you’ll “order” things off of the menu that you won’t like very much.
Living without a plan is leaving choices up to “fate.” That’s not always a good way forward, and it often is the same as letting others choose your life for you. If you don’t have a specific vision, you’ll just go where everyone else wants you to go, you’ll be led to places that don’t work well for you. Yes, there are things in life that come unplanned, but life also gives you lots of creative leeway, particularly in what kind of person you want to become. So what are you doing with your creative leeway?
Put a little hope into your future by defining the edges of what you want, being clear about having emotions and experiences that make you happy. A prayer is speaking your future into existence, so speak clearly. Specificity could be what’s missing from your prayers, so create your future exactly as you would want to see it. Vibrant dreams, visions of love, prosperity, and opportunity – those will rev up your engine, try it. You get one lifetime to be creative about tomorrow. So be specific, be bold about articulating your future. It just might be what’s wrong with your life – your prayers need work, they need to be bigger, clearer, and bolder! You future really does depend on it.
