The myth of readiness.

Rarely will you feel ready. Rarely will you feel confidently prepared, fully educated, and highly qualified. Rarely will you feel that you can afford it, yet somehow stretching the budget seems right. Rarely will you feel that you have the best skills, especially when you know there are others can do better. Rarely will you feel worthy of someone’s love, knowing that they could have chosen many others. Waiting to feel ready never comes.

The truth is, destiny moments arrive before you’re ready, before you feel qualified, and before the circumstances seem ideal. Destiny moments will only feel premature, but they will push you into new levels. That new love interest will likely arrive before you’ve lost that weight, before you feel ready to love again, or often, when you least expect it. That promotion will arrive when you feel under qualified, under prepared, and have little time to think.

Don’t turn things down because you don’t feel ready. The truth is, no one feels assured and totally ready. Unfortunately people turn down opportunity when it could have been the moment that changed their life for the better. The key is to look at the moment itself, not the fear. Maybe it’s your moment. Maybe life is showing you that you can, and now you need to show yourself that you can. Sometimes you have to step into the experience and trust that your step forward (fear and all) is a step towards your greater destiny. It’s too easy to fool yourself into thinking that you are not ready, that you need more time to “prepare.” If you weren’t ready, the opportunity wouldn’t have come your way. Sometimes you just have to step out in faith – it could be your next, best move. The truth is, you’re probably more ready than you give yourself credit for.
