The beauty of being a transitional creature.

As bountiful as the lives of others seem on social media, and as desperate as the world seems in the news, you can probably sense by examining your own life, that the universe doesn’t operate on those amplified extremes. Lives are seasonal. We have personal winters, dry spells, setbacks, times of quiet, and times of abundance. That’s how nature works, and you are a product of nature.

You may wonder if you’ve done “enough” to sow the seeds of your dreams and goals. In the autumn of your life, faith becomes important, as you enter a time of waiting. It’s a quiet time when life begins to slow. You may feel lucky during times of personal, summer harvest. That’s when things are zipping along, and you’re grooving – those are the highlights. You may feel isolated and desolate in your personal winters. That’s when it’s important to be patient, helpful to others, quiet, and steady. You may feel anticipation for something new, as you approach spring. That’s the time to hold onto faith, just a little longer, for signs of new growth and merging opportunities.

You’re transitioning, you’re expanding, and you’re decaying. Nothing’s been fatal yet, nor have you received all of your blessings, either. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking your Facebook “friends” are at daily pinnacles with their lives. That’s filtered existence. When you’re in a slow season, sow by assisting others. During the dry seasons, when nothing seems to be happening, reflect, work steadily, and enjoy life’s simplicity. It’s only a matter of time before the bounty will pour in. Your seasons are beautiful in their own right, the downturns, the doldrums, and the harvests. As your life transitions, the key is to go willingly, but to notice the constant presence within you that witnesses each change. Allow yourself to appreciate the grace and miracle of being a transitional creature.
