The joy of desire is the expression of love.

At the very core of desire lies a deep-seated longing to be a part of something bigger than yourself. Think about how enjoyable it is to be a part of a group, to be involved in projects that inspire creativity, and to see your work expand into more than you thought was possible.

There will be point in your life when surface desires, once they materialize, will no longer satisfy. A surface desire is wanting more money, a new house, a particular kind of career, a mate, etc. Once you reach those goals, an itch, so to speak, will return. There are deeper desires that make themselves known, as you mature. A deeper desire is when you begin to want to be helpful and to make a difference in the world. When you connect your desires to a passion to serve, then look out. Your assignment will come, and the universe will show you how it works. And what is that exactly? The universe is an expression of love.

When you express love, the universe works in your favor. Whatever you’ve been through, whatever skills you possess, or whatever you have enough of, you are in a special position to help others who are struggling. What you’ve learned in hard times can be shared as a helpful lesson to others who may be going through hard times themselves. You have surplus knowledge, surplus skills and abilities, and other surplus resources, so give them away. When you seek to serve, the satisfaction of finding your purpose runs longer, and goes deeper than the so called satisfaction of getting everything you’ve always “wanted.” As you grow, start seeking to be part of something bigger; to do something amazing in service to the world; to meet needs as they arise; and to express love in all that you do. Nothing will satisfy you more.
