Beginnings are wonderful, but they eventually lose their novel, enchanting quality. The start of a journey is filled will all sorts of expectation, wonder, and hope. A new relationship is filled with vivaciousness, passion, and excitement. Novelty contains an energy that makes us pioneers of our own curiosity. Newness satisfies, until we become aware of its ephemeral nature, and then satiety dims. When novelty begins to fade, the boundaries of an ending emerge. But the emergence of an ending is also a kind of beginning. It’s because the present moment is in continual unfolding, no matter how the mind marks time – as a beginning or as an ending, now is perpetually blooming. It’s eternal. So are you.
Beginnings and endings; comings and goings; rising and falling are all part of the same totality of experience itself. Beginnings and endings have the potential to be satisfying, but satisfaction itself has a half-life. There’s a point at which fresh becomes stale, and then fresh again. But it’s never static. The senses, and experience itself are in constant, dynamic unity. So are you in unity with the perpetually exciting potential of the present moment.
In the present moment, fresh is always abiding. When you become aware of the present, it billows with possibility, and it sees no beginning and no end. It’s perpetual, and perpetual is liberating, inviting you to be content and peaceful. You are that perpetual dynamism of the present moment. Your everlasting ability to know what a beginning is and what an ending is, that’s enchanting, and it’s also a superpower. Your ability to see it all coming and going – that’s the wonder that is you. Marvel at what it can teach you about your existence. Be free to explore the possibility of now. No matter where you are on your life’s journey, potential never fades nor does it satisfy, but it’s always amazing, exciting, and available. Keep going, you have no real ending, just a perpetual possibility.
